Lower third title

This is an example of a lower third title, which means the title shows up while still being able to watch the video. You might use this kind of title when telling information about the situation or person. It tells something that you probably wouldn’t know, for example the persons name. Its very useful because it doesn’t draw away all the attention from the video. Also the title fades in and out so the watcher is aware of when its leaving.

Title

This is an example of a regular title inserted in a clip. It might be used to create a dramatic effect because you can’t see what’s currently happening in the video. Or it could introduce what’s coming up next.

A simple cut in the timeline means__just deleting a clip________. When you cut, the other clips in the timeline stay the same length.
A ripple edit is when a clip is added but the time changes. You do this by right clicking on the clip and selecting ripple delete. When you ripple delete, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip move to the left.
Lifting and extracting are two ways to cut the clip at one time. To do this, you set the inpoints and out points.
Lifting is like simple cut, while extracting is like ripple effect, in terms of what happens to the other clips in the timeline.
This is an example of an extracting edit. I decided to extract the two clips where I did because nothing was happening in the clips I deleted. The horse was on its way to the hurdles_.

When doing the overlay I learned that it is used to edit a clip so that it doesnt mess up the sequence. The time of the video stays the same when using an overlay technique. This brilliant technique produces a clean finish on the video project, it flows better(especially in clips that contain action).

Insert editing allows any clip to be added to the video with out covering anything up. The duration of the video becomes longer. When you add a clip with insert editing techniques it pushes the time line further down. This type of editing is best for interviews and such. Although on the video above it has an awkward fit, because after the inserted clip the video leaves on where it was last at. It forms a little confusion. That is why overlay editing is best for active clips like sporting events, or movies.
